Damican Director Sanjay Sundarjee Wins Prestigious 2024 Sydney Young Entrepreneur Award
We are proud to announce that Damican director, Sanjay Sundarjee, has been named the 2024 Sydney Young Entrepreneur of the Year in the Food and Beverage category.
This award is a testament to the incredible growth and success Damican has achieved in just over two years of operation. With $14 million in revenue in FY24, representing a 47% increase from the previous year, Damican has quickly become a leader in the Pacific Islands and Caribbean markets.

The award recognizes the innovative strategies that have driven Damican’s success, including our expansion into three new international markets (Guam, Bahamas, and St. Vincent & Grenadines) and the launch of new brands. These milestones reflect our commitment to creating brands that resonate with consumers in the island regions we serve.

Sanjay’s journey to this achievement is a story of resilience and vision. Having founded Damican as his third venture, he combined his deep understanding of the Pacific Islands market with his expertise in marketing and brand-building. Sanjay saw an opportunity to differentiate Damican by creating localised marketing strategies, working with local content creators, and ensuring strong brand visibility in supermarkets.
What’s Next for Damican
This recognition is just the beginning. Damican is setting its sights on further growth, with plans to expand into additional Caribbean markets, including Trinidad, Jamaica, and Barbados. We’re also focusing on introducing our newly developed brands, including Captain Plushy baby nappies and Emperor laundry detergent, to a broader customer base.
